William Hasse

William Samuel Hasse, Jr.

William S Hasse Jr, age 68, passed away April 19, 2021. He was born in Grand Junction, CO to William and Thelma Hasse. With his father involved with highway construction, Bill attended 12 schools in Colorado and New Mexico before settling in Albuquerque in 1967. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Forestry in 1975. Prior to attending CSU, Bill had attended New Mexico State University, where he fell in love with his beautiful wife of 47 years, Deborah.

After graduation, Bill worked for Lee Landscapes and in 1977 he began working for Hasse Contracting Company, owned by his father. He became President of the company after his father's retirement in 1995. At the time of his death he was nearing retirement, and confident in his sons abilities to continue the family business. Bill was an active member of the Associated Contractors of New Mexico and served as the organization's President 2002-2003.

Bill is survived by his wife, Deborah, his children, Travis (Rebecca) Sara (James), Christian (Brittany); and grandchildren, Rachel, Ainslie, Sophia, Neva, Samuel, Cora, Oliver, and Louis, his father, William S Hasse, and sister, Linda Gallea, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma.

Bill was a perfectionist through and through. He set high standards for himself and his family, and he was proud of his family's accomplishments. His sense of humor, though eye-rolling at times, always made his family and friends laugh. The warmth and sincerity in his smile could make anyone feel at ease. Bill loved his grandchildren, wife, children, working on his property, being outdoors, and the Denver Broncos, though not always in that order.

There will be an Open House at the family's residence to celebrate Bill's life on May 1, 2021, from 11:00-3:00 pm. Please contact 602-410-5124 for location and additional information. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the Associated Contractors of New Mexico (ACNM) Scholarship Fund, 6135 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.

What a super guy -- great business man and exceptional family man.  The last time I talked to him he and his wife were planning a cruise and he was really enjoying his life.  What a privledge to have known him.

Bill was always so much fun to be around, but some of his ideas and actions were truly crazy.  We spent a lot of time together both at Manzano and at NMSU.  I will really miss him.  Condolences to Debbie and family.

Saddened to learn of Bill's passing. We had a special connection during our years at Manzano; his smile always made things happier. I hope memories help his family find peace during these difficult times; my deepest condolences.

Sorry to learn of Bill's passing.  He was quite a prankster in high school....one never knew what he would do next....but it was all in fun.  His smile was contagious and unforgetable.  May pleasant memories help his family through this difficult time.
